Sustainability has become a fashion word, most commonly used for issues of climate changes and energy efficiency. The Oiconomy Foundation defines sustainability as: “Responsibility for the current and future well being of mankind and environment”.
It is about climate and energy, but also about biodiversity, health and safety, child labor, labor conditions, depletion of raw materials, animal care, responsible financial governance, human rights, corruption control and more. Which of these issues is most important depends on our individual and group preferences and therefore most communication about sustainability is confusing.
Sustainability is more. It is about our responsibility for well being of the current and future generations of all life on earth.
